Welcome to the Spring/Summer 2017 roundup of all the latest news and developments at Filshill over the last few months. It’s been a very busy time at Filshill in terms of improving our infrastructure with the construction of a new office block and internal decor. We also launched our new re-developed website which has been a stunning success along with the roll out of our new Click & Collect channel and recently launched Ordering App. We’ll also give a mention to our MD Simon Hannah who received an Industry achievement award at the recent Scottish Grocer & Convenience Retailer Awards 2017 in tandem with his appointment as the new Chairman of Today’s Group. Lastly we can’t forget our annual Trade Day extravaganza at Hampden Park on the 9th May 2017.
Firstly, over the Winter months a new two level Office Block extension was added to the front of our Main Office block, the commercial buying team have been relocated to the ground level along with spacious break out rooms and the first level comprises more office rooms along with a modern fit for purpose board room for staff training & briefings, customer presentations and supplier sales team meetings. We believe that in order to provide Best in class service to our customers, that, this starts with our infrastructure and highlights our commitment to investment within our business.
We have also updated the internals of the Depot and the main office to improve the communication of our core business values for both Staff & Visitors with new signage which reflect our company values and ethics. Here’s just a small selection of the improvements along with our new graphical historical timeline showcasing Filshill’s heritage throughout the years.
In February we relaunched our e-commerce website with a new look and feel to make online ordering easier for our Customers. We simplified the ordering process with added functionality such as product filtering along with enhanced search capabilities. There was an emphasis placed upon rich content with a strong customer focus upon promotional items and a new dedicated My account section which empowers our Customers to take control of their essential account transactions.
In tandem with the relaunched website we rolled out our new Click & Collect channel for our Customers giving them the facility for a more convenient and accessible service to suit their individual needs.Customers can place their online orders before 2.30pm for same say collection Monday to Friday inc Bank Holidays. There has already been a good take up of the service and has proven very happy with our customers. Don’t take our word for it here’s a twitter recommendation from a happy customer!
We also launched our very own dedicated ordering app at our Trade Day on May 9th 2017 available on both android and ios platforms to enable our customers to order on the go straight from their mobile phone. We’ll have a dedicated news feature on our app in the very near future. Just now you can download the app on iOS here and for Android here. Essentially, our customers can order on the go! It’s time saving, mobile specific, integrated with the website and has an integrated barcode scanner which uses your smartphone camera.
It wouldn’t be a proper Filshill update without mention of an award or two! We picked up the Best Delivered Operation Retail at the recent Scottish Wholesale Association Achievers Awards 2017 to reinforce our mantle of an award winning wholesaler.
Moreover, our MD Simon Hannah picked up an Industry achievement award at the recent Scottish Grocer & Convenience Retailer Awards 2017. These awards are one of the highlights of the year for Scottish retailing and for Simon to scoop the headline award was a magnificent achievement both on a Company and personal level. Simon’s success was further augmented with his appointment as Chairman of Today’s Group, the largest Buying group in the UK with a buying power in excess of £5.7 billion. Well done Simon! A credit to the Company and to your family.
We also extend a very warm welcome to the Filshill family to our latest members of Staff: We are delighted to welcome Stuart Kerray our new Health & Safety and Facilities Manager, Roy Williams another new Business Development Manager and to the IT team two new members Keiran Dhinsa and David Gardiner, Keiran will focus on the EPOS/Sales division and David will be providing First line support in the Depot.
Finally, its coming into Summer which can only mean one thing the annual Filshill Trade Day, when all our Suppliers, Sales team and Customers come together for not only great on the day offers but to discuss all upcoming opportunities for our Customers. This year the event was held at Hampden Park, Lomond suite on the 9th May 2017 from 10am – 4pm. It was great seeing all our customers on the day snapping up great deals over lunch and refreshments. All in, it was a tremendously successful day for all our Customers & Suppliers and we have to thank Hampden Park Staff for their great service throughout the Day and the preparation & planning.
